The young left back came through the ranks at Kenilworth Road and made his first team debut as a second half substitute in May 2008.
Also capable of playing on the left-hand side of midfield he made 36 appearances for the Hatters in the 2008/09 season and was rewarded for his efforts with a professional contract in May 2009.
Howells scored his first senior goal in the Town's 4-3 victory over Cambridge United in September 2009.
